The purpose of the honor society is to provide a closer bond among graduate and undergraduate students of social work as they promote social justice for all people by meeting humanitarian goals and ideals through volunteerism. Phi Alphafosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work and in humanitarian volunteerism. The purposes of Phi Alpha Honor Society are to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals. Phi Alpha offers membership to B.S.W. and M.S.W. students, faculty and practitioners. Eligible students will be invited via email to join during the spring semester.
The National Association of Social Workers is the largest organization of professional social workers, serving nearly 155,000 professionals around the world. The organization promotes, develops, and protects the practice of social work and social workers. The NASW also seeks to enhance the effective functioning and well-being of individuals, families, and communities through its work and advocacy.
You will gain knowledge of school values and procedures, and assist current and incoming students in understanding and navigating the social work program. Distinguished members have earned national or international recognition for their contributions to social work education, research or practice. Members of Phi Alpha Omicron Epsilon Chapter are required to complete at least four philanthropy hours per semester. Community services may be completed by participating in Phi Alpha sponsored philanthropy events or with an organization of your choice. We, the Student Association of Social Workers at the Metropolitan State University of Denver , are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others in our community while enhancing the student experience of our members. We strive as a group to bring a strong awareness to social justice through dedication, compassion, and integrity.
Election of officers will be held at the end of the Spring semester, or at the end of the Fall semester should any of the officers graduate or drop out that Fall semester. Student has achieved a minimum overall grade point average of 3.5 based on a 4.0 scale. Membership dues for Phi Alpha Honor Society are $60, to be submitted by check with the membership application. If the fee prohibits you from applying for membership, contact the faculty sponsor to discuss your situation. The mission of Social Work in Action is to engage and empower natural helpers to participate in community outreach and social action within the CSU campus and the Fort Collins community.
Phi Alpha offers membership to social work students, faculty and practitioners. The National Council of Phi Alpha, the organization’s policy making body, meets once a year at the Council of Social Work Education’s (CSWE’s) annual program meeting conference. Each chapter has one voting representative on The National Council.
